Pharmacist buys pharmacy in Liverpool after securing six-figure investment

A pharmacist has bought a community pharmacy in Liverpool after securing six-figure investment from a fund management company.

Sean Clarke, a former area manager for McKeevers Chemists who owns SPC Care Limited, was supported by River Capital to buy Normans Pharmacy on Walton Road.

The money was provided through the North-West Business Growth Loan Fund. River Capital said Clarke “plans to transform” the pharmacy “into a hub of modern healthcare services.”

River Capital also said the investment will help preserve five jobs at the pharmacy and create two new roles “over the loan term.”

“The investment will enable SPC Care Limited to introduce new services, including participation in the Pharmacy First scheme and innovations around electronic medication administration records for care homes,” the fund management company said.

River Capital said Clarke will expand the pharmacy’s opening hours to include Saturdays and introduce online private services for travel vaccines and aesthetic products.

“This approach aims to improve medication management and streamline processes for care homes, ultimately benefiting patients and caregivers alike,” River Capital said.

Its investment manager Jim Moore said: “Sean’s extensive experience in the pharmaceutical sector, combined with his innovative plans for Normans Pharmacy, aligns perfectly with our mission to foster growth, create jobs and support local communities in the North-West.”
